Catching Up: Friends from Tucson & Mother's Day

Time seems to be running waaaaaaay too fast these days! Just got back from a trip to Tucson last week. Crazy weather, Monday when I got there Phoenix had a record 110F day! (I got there at 01:00 AM and it was 98F!!!). Tucson that day had 105, and Tuesday was more of the same. Then by wednesday weather changed, it got really really windy, and cooler. Friday morning in Phoenix when I left it was 56F! and that night it had snowed in Flagstaff!!!

But anyways, back in the ranch, the week before that we had our friends from Tucson (Steve, Michelle, Kally and Eden) come to visit for two days. They spent the week in Kona and came for their last two days of their trip.

They got here Friday and we took them for lunch to coconut island...

then we played at Liliuokolani park...... then we went to Bayfront for some shave ice, but it was all closed..... That night we went out to Kalapana to see the lava flowing into the ocean (Charlotte and Hana stayed home, because Hana did not want to go...). This was very cool! highly recommended to go at dusk! Next morning we headed out to Boiling pots where Steve and I went for a very cool swim! From there it was to the farmer's market, and then they headed back to Kona to catch a flight back home.....

Mother's day at Lava Pool

We decided to go and try a new place to visit for Mother's day, so we headed out towards a "lava pool" near Kapoho. It is not that is is a hot lava pool, but rather a cool ocean pool that was formed in the lava.....the trip there was half of the fun! (these pictures were taken with Charlotte's new fancy mother's day gift camera)
