Turkey with Friends

Thanksgiving weekend came and we just couldnt pass on the opportunity of making one of our signature Smoked Turkeys..... Problem was that we had retired our old smoker back in Tucson. So it was off to the Home Depot to get Big Red.

Thanksgiving day came and a beautiful complete rainbow greeted the day . So we knew right away it was going to be a good day.

Early in the morning (8:00-ish) we assembled Big Red and Charlotte started making al the preparations for the mash potatoes and fresh from scratch Apple pie (no wonder she was known as auntie pie back home). Meanwhile I was getting the coals ready and rubbing our secret glazing on the turkey. At 9:00 am the bird was in the smoker!

Smoking a turkey takes some patience and tender care.....

The shirt reads: Age is a case of mind over matter, if you dont care, it doesnt matter..

7 hours later it is all worth it!

The Dall family came over to play for a while before we migrated to the Smiths house down the road for dinner....
