Girl Scout Camp & Easter Brunch
Camp Kilohana

Last weekend Charlotte took her Brownie troop on a camping trip to camp Kilohana. It was a lot of fun. It was also good to get up and past the cloud cover that has been hovering over Hilo for the past 8 weeks!

When we got there, the camp was right in the middle of the clouds!
And during the flag ceremony a light drizzle came down as if threatening to ruining the camping weekend....
But it was going to take more than a little rain to ruin the spirit of the girl scouts, so we set up the campfire
And before we knew it, the clouds retreated back to where they came from.....
It was spaghetti for dinner that night at the camp's lodge.....
and after that under the light from the fire in the chimney and some lamps the brownies gave some pretty funny performances...
Next day (Saturday) turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. The girls did some tie-dye projects, dyed some Easter eggs, and did other stuff (I had to come back early to take Syd to her soccer game, Charlotte stayed up there until later that day)

Easter Brunch
Sunday we had Easter Brunch with our now more family than friends the Cookes, or half of them...Gary and Kirrah.
I tried a new recipe, grilled ribeye roast......
Which after hour and half in the grill turned out pretty darn good! (Definitely one to add to the "lets do that again!" recipe list)
We had a wonderful meal which included the roast, prawns with ginger & creole spices sauteed in olive oil, potatoes with rosemary and steamed asparagus with lemon-butter sauce. And for drinks we had mimosas, red wine or juice. As an after meal we enjoyed some very deep philosophical conversations, here is my beautiful wife engaged in deep thoughts with Gary...
After brunch we hid some Easter eggs in the backyard.....
Nothing can stop an 8 year old hungry for Easter eggs,
not even a raving river!
....and what was REALLY funny was that all four chickens were following us around as we hid the eggs, as if to make sure that we were not stealing their eggs!!!! they've only laid two eggs and now they were claiming ownership on all the candy filled eggs!
Now, take a look at this chicken......would you dare stealing an egg from her!?

Spring is in the air........

The easter brunch was cool.
Rodrigo tu papa me conto que ve todas las semanas tu blog, que solo ve las fotos por no entender el ingles, pero que lo que mas le llama la atencion es la cantidad de comida que hacen jeje, el burro hablando de orejas.
Los quiero mucho
